Ice Cream Social Benefit at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center - August 6th
An Ice Cream Social and Concert will be held Thursday, August 6th to benefit youth education at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center. Ice Cream will be donated by local shop Molly Moon's and the concert will feature local acts Slow Skate and Bucks T-4 as well as Berkeley, CA touring act All My Pretty Ones. 7p.m doors, $7
The Fremont Abbey Arts Center is a newly renovated 9000 square foot nonprofit venue providing educational arts & cultural experiences. Their mission is to help people express themselves and develop through the arts, thereby improving their lives and our society as a whole. The Abbey's focus is Music, Visual, Dance, and Literary arts in both performance, workshop, class, and private instruction formats. Scholarships are available for all youth classes.
Seattle band Slow Skate is the musical collaboration of Caitlin Sherman and Jason Goessl. Layers of toy piano, vintage keyboards, upright bass, brushed junk drums and swooning guitar lines illustrate a sort of musical noir. Their performances have an intense dynamic range of whispers and yowls with Caitlin's eclectic and earnest songs as a centerpiece. They will be performing as a special acoustic lullaby trio for the show at the Fremont Abbey. www.myspace.com/slowskate
Northern California's All My Pretty Ones consists of a group of earnest musicians/music dorks making well-crafted music unlimited by genre or trend. Centered around songwriter Derek Schmidt's lyrics- which span from the grandiose and literary to the spare and heartfelt- All My Pretty Ones focuses on harmony above all else. The Abbey performance will be the Seattle touring stop on their summer Pacific NW tour. www.myspace.com/myprettyones
This will be the first Seattle performance of collective band, and opening act of the evening, Bucks T-4. Comprised of members of Seattle bands Obelus, Slow Skate, Mountain Con and Half Acre Day, Bucks T-4 is back-porch music for the modern mind. www.myspace.com/buckst4
