2007
11/8: Renovations going very well, see the photo blog for weekly updates. ROUND 31 is our 3rd annual Holiday Party
w/ select alumni from 2007. This round will not be at a public venue so
rsvp to arts (at) fremontabbey.org if you'd like to attend. Space is
limited!
11/1: Shop online for holiday gifts and benefit the Abbey!
10/19: New Belgium Brewing donates $2000! Thank you so much for your community support.
10/18: ROUND29 & 30 being held @ Nectar Lounge on Tuesday's, October 23 & November 20
10/1: Renovations begin! See the new Abbey Blog for
photos and ongoing updates on how we are improving this building for
long-term community uses. We plan to reopen in early 2008, so contact
us now if you'd like to reserve a date for your benefit, reception,
party, etc.
9/18: ROUND 28 all set for Monday night! Great lineup & new "theatre short" this month theround.org
9/5: We are honored to host the Degenerate Art Ensemble "in residence" at the Abbey. They are holding private rehearsals through September for their new show!
8/22: Jason Webley & Monsters of Accordion show sells out! Thanks everyone for supporting.
ROUND 27
is August 27th and will be at Greenlake Community Center on the lawn
across from Strbcks. It now features Josh Ottum (Friends for Heroes),
Alessandra Rose (Kindness Kind), and Ritchie (Loch Lomond), poetry by
Roberto Ascalon (Poet Populist nominee), and painting by Kristen
Cochran & Jesse Brown (Urban Artworks).
8/2: Director Nathan Marion featured in Seattle Weekly's feature "Behind the Scene"!
7/15: Podcast of ROUND25 w/ Damien Jurado, J. Tillman, Jenna in Troubletown, and Danny Sherrard posted on iTunes
7/8:
Podcast of Lily's performance at Round 24 downloaded over 1500 times
since posting! (Thanks to Youth Speaks Seattle for sending Lily to the
event.)
6/29: Andy Davis will be touring through from Nashville and playing an acoustic concert here at the Abbey on JULY 11th!
6/25: Round25 sells out!

Our new parking signs worked great! No parking problems on 43rd, as we
offer free parking at Urban Weeds & Zundel's lot).
6/17: Seattle Soap Box Derby
is coming Sep 29. We'll be offering the arts center space to those
needing a place to build their 'vehicles'. We can provide some tools
and maybe even supplies & advice/assistance for low-income or young
participants. 11a-4p on 1st Saturday's this summer. Maybe more in
September.
6/6: Fremont Fair is June 16-17 and we'll be offering arts tents for youth (and parents) on Saturday & Sunday, 12-4pm in the ADOBE KIDS UNIVERSE just west of the Rocket Gate.
Eco-tshirt making w/ Nature Consortium teachers, chalk drawing, live
painters & community painting, coloring fair posters, etc. Some
activities may continue after 4pm on Saturday but not tshirt making.
Here's an indirect mention in the Seattle Times article about the fair.
6/2:
Fremont Bridge opening event, approx 50 kids make eco-tshirts! Scott
Erickson paints live with many 'helpers' from the crowd.
5/2: Fremont First Friday ART WALK
Featuring works by Damien Jurado, C. Charles Bowden, Tim Tinker, Greg
Nyssen, Amanda Ringstad, Brian Barber, Rustee Pace, Greg Lutze, Eric
Fischer
4/6: We will be tabling at the "Neighborhood Awareness Night" @ Adobe building, 5:30-7:30 on TUESDAY, April 10
4/5: Round23 lineup growing for April 23 - Noah Weaver (U.S.E.) & Julie Jane added + special guests!
Visual Arts class going very well, approx. 20 people attending each Thursday night.
3/19: Round22 draws about 100 folks, wonderful performances by
local teens Canary Sing (Youth Speaks), Victor Ramirez (Urban
Artworks), and a variety of non-teens like Horse Feathers and more.
3/10: Arts Events & Experiences survey
3/3: KEXP Benefit raises $2250!
The show sold out by 10pm! Thank you for supporting!

2/08: Nathan Marion begins after school video project with
students @ BF Day School - with Ann Sloper (Fremont Arts Council
president) & Wallingford Boys & Girls Club
2/05: KEXP 90.3
begins Community Partnership with The Abbey for all of FEBRUARY! The
sponsorship culminates in a benefit show March 3rd @ The Highdive.
(KEXP is the top non-commercial radio station in the world as far as we
know.)
12/6/06: Awarded $14,900 matching fund grant from
City of Seattle Dept of Neighborhoods to evaluate arts education needs
& test out a variety of workshops, classes, & programs for all
ages. (Photo w/ Mayor Greg Nickels coming soon!)
